DO NOT REPLY [Bug 50662] wrong context in mod_ssl's SSLRequire

https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50662

--- Comment #2 from Daniel Gruno <humbedooh [at] apache> 2012-04-02 15:13:29 UTC ---
I've looked through the C source just to be sure, and it does specifically say
that it only works in the contexts already described. Perhaps the expression
part refers to expressions in general and not the context in which SSLRequire
is permitted?

Can someone confirm/elaborate/deb0rk this?

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 50662] wrong context in mod_ssl's SSLRequire [In reply to]

--- Comment #3 from Stefan Fritsch <sf [at] sfritsch> 2012-04-02 21:30:25 UTC ---
The context list is correct.

IMHO the distinction should be the static server config (where the expression
is parsed only once) versus the .htaccess files (where it is parsed for every
request). But this is how .htaccess files work in general, so the question is
if that needs special mention. OTOH, parsing expressions may be a bit more
expensive that parsing a simple config directive. So you may be right and the
hint should be added to the general description of expressions.

I am closing this ticket as fixed, as it merited a small notice in the
documentation, mentioning that the per-dir context refers to the use of
.htaccess files. As Stefan says, this is the way .htaccess files work in
general, and I agree that we shouldn't have to elaborate any further on the
issue.

I cannot fully understand how you can close this...

In trunk this still says at one place:
"Context: directory, .htaccess"

and on the other:
"Actually, in Global and Per-Server Class context expression is parsed at
startup time and at runtime only the machine representation is executed. For
Per-Directory context,"

So some point of the documentation must be wrong here, or do I misunderstand
somethingß
