mod_perl goes fast
We like speed, and we love mod_perl for the unprecedented performance it offers with dynamic content. We also like control, and our mod_perl control panels allow clients to easily start and stop their mod_perl servers and view detailed information about the state of their mod_perl servers.
How we “mod” mod_perl
Gossamer’s mod_perl setups use dual web server setups with one light web server that doesn't contain mod_perl, and one mod_perl enabled web server. This allows requests from the internet to first go to the light one, which then proxies requests requiring mod_perl over to that server. For optimum speed, the light server handles all other requests.
Easy Setup and Monitored
One click from our admin control panel will setup and configure a separate proxied mod_perl server for any domain on the machine. The domain owner is then free to edit the mod_perl startup file to load whichever applications they wish to run in the mod_perl environment. Meanwhile, each mod_perl server is automatically added to our system monitor where it is checked every minute to ensure responsiveness. (Any errors will result in an automatic restarted and notification of a tech.)
Efficient & Secure
Each mod_perl server is a separate server running as the domain owner. With this setup, any bugs in a web application will be limited to just the mod_perl server, and will not affect any other domain on the server. Also, each mod_perl server can have custom limits in place to make sure it doesn't consume too many resources (mod_perl servers do use up a lot of memory). With our dual server setup, you only need a fraction of the memory compared to a single server setup.

“I'm very happy with Gossamer Threads mod_perl hosting service. Even in the shared environment plan I get my own mod_perl server. The machines are very powerful and my web sites are running blazingly fast. And of course the support is fantastic. If you are looking to run mod_perl, I highly recommend Gossamer Threads!”
