I've tried to 'build all' but all i get when i do that is this:

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /lam3r/cgi-bin/links/admin/nph-build.cgi.

Reason: Error reading from remote server


The pages shoild go to ~/public_html and rest are in ~/cgi-bin. I don't have any proxies on.

No idea, but you may want to retry uploading all of the files to your server and checking that all the .cgi files were uploaded in ASCII mode, not binary. :~}

Sounds like your server is improperly configured to handle GET methods through web forms. Contact your hosting company.
