hi, does anyone know if the user can rate a site more than once in links 2? how is this prevented if it is? thanks

I believe Links 2 simply creates an IP log, and the sites that IP has rated. If the user then trys to re-rate a link again, it will give them an error.

There is a time period calculation set in the rate.cgi to check the rate log files in the ratings folder (admin/ratings), which I believe is set to 3 hours as default.

so if a visitor wants to bump up his ratings all he has to do is vote every 3 hours?

Yep...that's about it. You could bump up the time period or search this forum for block IP rate.log.

There are a bunch of mods at GB Resources, http://cgi-resource.co.uk/pages/ratecookies.shtml specifically where you can place a cookie to prevent multiple ratings in a certain period. I use it myself. There are quite a few other mods and tutorials, templates, etc there too. It's a good site to check out.
