Before someone says "search!" I already have...

My site has 3 top level categories, and numerous subcategories under each. I need a way, on each of the 3 top level category pages, to display the total number of links in the subcategories under each top level category. I know how to display the number of links in the top category, but that does not count the links in the sub cats underneath.

Is there someone who can offer a solution?
