Well I wrote my first mod "Password Protect It" It will require the old email and or a password that they entered when they first posted the link. If its not correct then it will write the IP to a database then you can bann them from ever changing a link(or at least trying). This mod is free, if you would like the code, please let me know. There's allot more to it than what I said above, and has many extra features.

None that I have seen, the only problem is that since most and I mean most go through a dial up internet connection, that that their IP address changes each time they connect, thus you might bann someone who has really submitted the link. The bann part is an option it is up to ya if you want to use it, but you can just use the password or email part. I'm going to release the URL to the mod in about a week, I'm still testing it out, but it looks ok.

OK, I completed the script, I choose to remove the ban part, but the password protect still remains, because it was causing some problems. Anyway, I am working on the instructions, to install this mod. The URL will be released by tomorrow, so happy password protecting.

Before you use my mod I ask that you back up all of the files that you will be modifing, I've only been studing Perl for about 2 months, and am only 16, so please take time to back up, site_html.pl, modify.cgi, and links.def

Ok I do have to saw a few words.
1. This is a good idea.
BUT.
It wouldn't work unless it is complete. What I mean is,having a default password so if you have billions of links in your database and someone who wants to update their information and added it before the password field was around, they can get it.
Another thing you need is a password recovery form, where it will email it to you, and maybe have a admin spy so you can see which users requested password recovery.
I think this script right now is useless until more features like above are added.

First of all it would work, as far as "billions of links" I am truly a Links fan but evan I know that Links can not handle a "billions of links" as far as a default password, when you add a new mod that requries a new entrie in your databases it all works the same way, you will just haft to add that manuly. Anyway back to the "billions of links" if and I mean if you can get billions of links and links can handle them, be sure to give me the URL.

I'm sure links doesn't have a link limit, it would just take a while for everything to work out like the nph-build, and verify.
I'm a links fan too and I know how it works inside out. * just don't know how to write cgi :P but can understand it by looking around *
But trust me, this mod still needs more work before it can actually be really really use full.
I'm not saying it is a bad mod, and is nice that someone actually made this mod and is free.
