How do you delete Links1.1 and Links2 files with FTP?

How do you delete Links1.1 and Links2 files with FTP?
Ok I recently updated my link to 2.0 and now I want to delete my old one but now it wont let me it keeps saying permissions denied. Now I have to get Hypermart to set the permissions for my entire account. How do I avoid this from happenig again? In other words how do I make a CGI file or Links to build pages and it allows me to delete them through my FTP?

Of course the easiest solution is to just ask your server administrator to remove a directory or to reset the ownership permissions to your account so that you can just ftp in and remove them.
We had 1.1 stuck on one of our sites, and asked our admin to reset the permissions back to us. which allowed us to go in and remove them, although we havn't checked out trying to remove the 2.0 yet, but I was under the impression that it was corrected, and set to the owner of the directory, but could be wrong.

You won't be able to do that via ftp because you did not create the directories. The permissions are set to specify the owner of the files/directories as user "nobody".

However, since the old files were created by a script, you can use another script to delete them. You can install Gossamer's FileMan File Manager script to do it, or use the Regenerator script located at http://www.groundbreak.com/teasers/regenerator/ . Regenerator was written for Links v1.1 but rumor has it that it also will work for v2.0.

I truly believe you will be better off using File Manager however. It does so much more than just deleting files and directories.

ok I got the Links 1.0 to delete. THanx for the info that File Manager is really good, I'm gonna keep it, the best part it is only 2 files!

there you'll find the code for nph-delete.cgi
I've written this mod to delete all the pages i've build with 'build all' before.

I've needed this, cause I've changed the file extension ($build_index). and for this it's a very, very useful mod.

(why wouldn't build also be as fast as delete? :-(
