Forgive me, I know this subject has been covered many many times (needs to be in a FAQ somewhere) but what's required to add or modify the fields in Links?

I'd like to modify links to handle a virtual file library ala winfiles.com (better example, ceglobe.com) and can't find the former posts anywhere on how to do it.
