On Links 2.0 home.html under the categories list I place links that I have reviewed from the database (see url below for example). I copy them and and after adjustment paste them in using html. This is to give sites I liked a boost in exposure I hope.
What I would like to do is using ASP code to get from the database the link info. When I want to spotlight another link all I have to do is alter the ID number. How would I go about doing this if it is possible?
Also, is it possible, which out to much effort to put the above example into a random rotation. This will place on the Links 2.0 home.html a random link and its details each time the page is loaded - right?
This will help to promote and highlight links in the database which may be very good but are listed way down in the search results page for some reason or the other and not getting a fair chance of a visit.
I don't know if this is possible or how much work is involved or even if it would be a useful modification for other LINKmasters, but one thing I know for sure is - Can and how do I get this modification to put on my home.html? :-)
BTW - I'm using templates. And I like them indeed. I have a master template and updating every page on the site with over 100 pages, is a breeze. I have made the links code an editable region on the master template so it will always stay the same way as I formatted them. Then when I make design changes to other area's of the page layout all I have to do is make one change on the master template. Within a couple of seconds all pages on the site are updated with the one modification made on the master template, on which all pages on the site are based on.
Sorry, one final question, is it possible to build only selected pages in the admin area?
Sometimes I make a change to a single template and once I have done that I have to rebuild all the pages just to see one change on one template. I don't know if this is useful to anybody else but it would save me some time anyway. ;-)
Desperately seeking - Ready...
