Well, I finally did it!
Targeted banners placed anywhere on ALL pages, including categories/sub-categories. Zones assigned wherever required, 468x60 gifs, animated.gifs, affiliates AND Flash banners - horizontal and vertical.
The categories template was the most important one - it simply uses the header/footer/ combo ... with PHP include, all page extensions are changed to php and the site is rebuilt.
A Flash/gif banner rotation prog looks after things externally.
Been running tests for a few days and its flawless, although it took in excess of 100 hours to put it all together.
