A trick some of you might like.

A trick some of you might like.
I have done a lot of customizng with links, and would like to make available the source i used. The changes I have made in the script are:

The What's new page links look different from the rest: http://www.ceglobe.com/software/New

I added a bunch of new fields for each link. Very easy to do and very helpful. I have an Editor's Picks page, and I also have it output a special file listing the new updates every day and it puts them on the home page using SSI - my favorite: http://www.ceglobe.com

If you see anything you like, let me know and I'll tell you how I did it.

I would love to know how you did the editors pick pages.

I'd be quite interested in hearing how you output to a file- I'm planning on doing that for What's New/What's Pop/ and Main Index pages to include on my home page...

I know the SSI stuff, just not that great with PERL Smile

(I'm learning, tho.)

O.K. here are some more I would like to see. How did you do your featured pages on your main page, how did you do your top 10, and last but not least how did you do your reviews page with the different levels of cool. If you could provide these I would be very gratefull.

The featured pages are just pages on my site. I added thos links manually. The top 10 sites is another cgi script. you can get it at http://solutionscripts.com

Finally, the rating system. I will post how to do this later today. Right now I have to go.

Hi Nicholas,

don't want to sound like an ass, but an unexpierienced user will not find Sub_site.. as described in your editor picks text. It should read sub site.. So no "_" after Sub.

Your description is great. It was easy to add the editors pick function to my site. I use it as my "Surftips" page.

Best wishes

Hiya Smile

I may be dense but... as this modified verion of links is almost exactly what I want, can someone tell me how to go about getting the modified version?

I am a perl programmer for a living, so I can handle the tech part Smile

This modified version was based off the regular links 1.1 I just gradually made changes based upon whatever I wanted the links to look like. I just added new field eachtime i wanted to add new info.
