Upgrading to mod_perl at a later date

I'll probably run off the standard install then upgrade the system with mod_perl as needs be. But would the transition result in any downtime? What is the process, do you have to recreate the tables etc?

No, there are no changes to the program required in order to run under mod_perl, it's simply a matter of setting up your server and mod_perl.
