Sort Acending/Decending Links by Rating or Name
Hello everyone,

Widgetz in Links 2.0 had a mod that allowed you to put links above the links in a category so that you could sort the links acending/decending by name or rating by clicking on a link a top the links.

Does anyone know of a mod for that in LinksSQL or how I would go about doing that?

Hi James, not a guru here - couldn't tell you how to do it - but, I know there has been several threads on this topic. Try searching this forum for so (search/sort order), sb (search/sort by), ascending or descending. You should be able to find something using those terms.

I had tried to do a search earlier, and I tried with your suggestions. I found sort by questions and answers but none that allow the frontend user to select how to sort resources in a category in real time.

Any other ideas? I know Widgetz made this mod for Links 2.0, he called it the category sort mod I think.

Hi James, could this thread possibly give you a heads-up on how to do this?

Check the FAQ (I'm a month behind on new threads, but this was an older one).

You want to get to the letter mod, where a user can pick a letter to display.

It's the same theory.

But, you want to put a link in the search template to resubmit the search on a sort order field.

I believe the problem is search hits are returned by "score" only, so it might not work as you planned....

This might work in page.cgi and you could pass the default return order as another parameter --

Alex gave a brief but complete way of passing new parameters with 'dynamic' a short while ago.
