plug to check if user is free to use

Is there a plug that when new user is register it can check if user is free to use? Like it do when open new account in Google.

Hi,

You mean something on the signup page, which would show them "available" or "taken" when they enter their desired username?

Here is a post I wrote a while back, which should do what you want (its for GCommunity, but I think the solution I gave in the last few posts should help you get it working with GLinks);
