I have installed Links 2.2.0 version and am trying to import data from previous version, however it is giving me below error:

A fatal error has occured:GT::SQL (9842): File '/home/path-to-linkssql/admin/defs/lsql_Links_Files.def' does not exist or the permissions are set incorrectly at /home/path-to-linkssql/admin/Links/Import/BKS2.pm line 106.

What do I do ? :(

you need to change the permissions on that .def file - the script can't read it OR check that def file exists?

I believe the import the script uses both the 'new' def file and the def file from your 'old' installation - the one you're importing from.

I checked for the lsql_Links_Files.def but it is not available in the /admin/defs folder.

Here is what I am doing.

1. Previous version is installed on xyz.com
2. New version (fresh install) is made on test.xyz.com
3. I did the backup of database from previous version using Links SQL admin panel.
4. Using the restore DB (3rd/last on the import/export page - where you specify the path of the db file) feature of the new version, I am trying to restore the db.

What do you think?

hum.. what in the world is this lsql_Links_Files.def file anyway, cuz I tried to install the 2.1.2 version again and in that version also this file was not there in the /defs/ folder. However this file do exists in the /admin/defs/ for the site that is live.

Can anyone please help?

Have you added a new column with "File" type to Links table in your existing (live) install at all?

Hum.. now when I think of it.. yes... I had one column but that was long time before and it has been deleted from Link Properties about 10 months or so..

Do you think it could be still causing problem?

Also, what if I just copy that file from live site and upload *that* file on the test site.. ;)

hmmm... if the column is no longer in your database, and you don't need it, try moving the def file out of the def folder in your LIVE install.

try importing again after you've done that and see if it stills gives an error.

is the first path above pointing to your EXISTING or NEW install?

It is for the New Install on the new domain (actually test.domain.com) I do not think I am brave enough to do even little bit testing on the live website. I am working on setting up a new layout for the current website and am also wanting to do the vesion upgrade and few changes. So am having all thing setup on a test site and am using FTP software to transfer anything between sites, but there is *no* connection between test and live site (don't wanna ruin the live site)
