Static Site or Dynamic with Rewrite?

Dynamic, by far (with mod_rewrite). Saves doing builds, and you can do a lot more fancy stuff for your users - giving them a much more ejoyable time on your site =)

A couple of things to take into consideration though -

1) The size of your database
2) How powerful is your server? (some hosting companies get annoyed if you use too much power up, mainly on shared accounts)
