When I went to uninstall a plugin I was faced with two options....

Full Uninstallation or Skip Uninstall

However, whichever one I press, the plugin is deleted.

May wanna fix that up unless I am losing my mind and got it wrong (again) 8)

The plug-in should be moved back to "Uninstalled"

Yes sorry that is what I meant but surely clicking "Skip Uninstall" means exactly that and shouldn't uninstall it ?

skip uninstall will i imagine, skip any extra uninstall functions that have been added by the plugin author. These might be new tables that have been created in mySQL that the plugin author has set to delete if uninstalled. You can then either choose just to move the tar file out of installed to uninstalled or do that as well as doing the custom uninstall information the plugin author set.
