Yes and no.

As alex pointed out in a recent thread, it's got limitations, but it serves as an example of how to do a plugin.

Yes, I agree. The plugin in the demo has major limitations, but if you fix those, the cache could be quite useful. The problem with the demo one is:

1. It doesn't handle paging
2. It doesn't handle catid (searching on selected categories)
3. It doesn't handle all the different options (bool, substring, etc)
4. It needs a method to expire cached entries automatically.

But if you handle these cases, it would be quite useful.
