Short/Long & multiple dbs

Short/Long & multiple dbs
This was already asked by another person (sort of) but I could not get enough information from the post to do it myself...

I want this database:

http://www.geocities.com/...stone/defaultcfg.txt (default.cfg) with http://www.geocities.com/snoopystone/htmlpl.txt (html.pl)

to take information from this database:

http://www.geocities.com/...tone/defaultcfg2.txt (default.cfg)

and update automatically when the information in the 2nd database changes.

Does that make any sense?

For example:

A horse is added to the 2nd database with the ownership of "Owner". I want the 1st database to find "Owner" and add that horse to the list of horses "Owner" owns.

I also tried the short/long mod on both databases with no avail. I want the 1st database to display "Name" and "Email", with the rest of the information showing in the long format. I want the 2nd database to display "ID", "Horse Name", "Horse Breed", "Year", and "Gender" with the rest of the info showing in the long format.

I am sure this has been asked MANY times before, but any help with how to do this would be appreciated. I don't think these mods are very difficult, but being a beginner in DBMan world, I have no idea how. It took me days just to get the thing to show without the "internal error".

For your information:

1st: http://hshsimgame.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/members/db.cgi

2nd: http://hshsimgame.netfirms.com/cgi-bin/dbman/db.cgi

Thanks! (And BTW: I have NO money to spend on hiring a person to do this for me. Just wanted whoever helps me to know that)

When trying to view your site with the urls provided it states the site is not available?

I looked at your .cfg files and couldn't see the relationship setup between the 2 databases. You mentioned the "Owner" field to be used to associate the records between the databases but that is not a field in either database?

Have you read both sets of notes for using the relational mod. There is also an example which can be downloaded to help you understand how it works.

As far as the short/long mod, this is just a matter of downloading the script which is setup and then adding what you already have for your html_record_form and html_record subs.

Please keep in mind that you most likely will not be able to add others mods and use the autogenerate function. It looks like that is what is being used from the one file I viewed.

There is a lot of information and examples also available in the FAQ noted below. It takes time to setup your databases, but it does become much easier once you get going and see how easy it all fits together. There are many tips and tricks available in the FAQ.
