Question??
Hello,

I am interested in starting a reservation program over the Internet. I wanted to hear some advice on whether or not DB-man would be good to use for my database manager. Are there any other software packages that might be helpful?

Any suggestion you could make would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

It probably would work for what you want. There have been several people who have used DBMan for hotel reservations.

I'd need to know more details about what you have in mind to be able to answer you fully, but I think DBMan is something for you to look into.

One really nice thing about it is that you can work with it for a while and see if it will work before you have to pay anything for it. I don't know of many (or, off the top of my head *any*) other online databases that allow that.

I'm no good at helping you with other databases, though. I really only know this one.

There are some other programs on the Web, including Database Doctor (check cgi-resources.com). But in terms of robust and flexible databases, DBMAN is the best. It has great technical support (thanks to Carol and other power programmers) and also allows great flexibility in terms of administation and userability.

Its only disadvantage is that after 1.0 MG, you will need to purchase a SQL License, which is $350.00. This is problematic for non-for-profit and academic organizations, but for commercial projects, it definitely is worth it!

I recommend DBMAN! It is great. It is applicable to almost every database. We are currently using it for our Job Hotline and Employee Directory, with plans to use it for our Class Schedules.

If you know HTML and have Perl experience, then this is script for you! (Yet, it is also manageable for those less adept programmers and web designers.)

Good luck! Hope you like DBMAN!
