A few more email related questions
JPD,

It's bee a while since I've been here. See you moved up to the moderator slot - well done!

I saw a posting regarding a isPrivate email option but could not find the original source. Can you please point me at that?

Also - someone asked a question, I don't think it ever got answered, of whether it was possible to email the content of an entire record to someone. I would like to add a snag onto that. Would it be possible to email the user that posted the record, his/her own record say every 30 days with a notice to check it and make sure it is still up to date?

If you'd like to see the implementation of my DBman go to: http://www.dropzone.com/...s/db.cgi?uid=default

Thank you! Smile

It would take some looking to find that private emailer. I'll see what I can find. (A little later) You can find it at

What exactly did you want to do with mailing an entire record?

Your "every 30 days" thing would be a real challenge. That would take some major "ponder" time. Smile

Nice to see you again.

JPD,

Here's the idea - and it may need some kind of cron job intervention - or simply a cgi sub executed by admin every x days...

My driver for this question: I would like to keep my database as up to date as possible, with as little as possible intervention!

So, here's the process I have in mind:

1) Somebody adds a record to my database, including their email address
2) 30 days expire and the data may be outdated, say the prices they listed changes
3) They receive an automatic email, to the email address in the record, every 30 days (or however long)
4) The body of this email include the content of their entire record with a little note saying something like: "You've listed your DZ in the Global Dropzone Database on [date here] Your current entry are as follows: [full record content here] Please validate that this is still accurate. If not please go to [link here] and update your record.

Something like that!

If you wanted it automatic, you would have to use cron. That might be your best bet, actually. There's a great tutorial in the Gossamer Threads Links FAQ on setting up cron.

I'm afraid I am completely exhausted right now. I'm gonna go make dinner and go to bed. I'll try to think about it later.

Hey - no rush on my side! Have some dinner, take a nice long bath, kick back with a book, sleep well, and do this whenever you have time.

First things first.
