It is all relative, now isn't it. Let's look at this way...

1) Do you have a mortage payment (do you own your own house)?

2) Do you commute to get to work (like 45 minutes every day)?

3) Do you own your own vehicle?

You have to look at on a relative scale, in terms of cost of living for ME in the area of the USA where I live, it is DAMN expensive, ANDY!

Nope, but I have to pay £200 a month house keeping ;)

I travel 8 miles to college every day, then 8 miles to work, and then 16 miles home...which all takes about 1 hour added together.

Yup, £500 a year insurance, services every 2 months, fuel etc.

Eliot, I wasn't meaning that comment as an insult or anything, but I still have to pay a lot out. I'm paying £100 every quarter for my phone line, then £20 a month for unlimited access on a 56k connection Frown

(normally only get 28.8 though)

Well, it sure read as an insult...thinking outside the box is a good thing, Andy...things are relative and when someone posts that technology is expensive, it most likely IS expensive for them. I empathesize that your costs are just as expensive for your living situation as mine, but saying that something is NOT expensive and be lucky for what I pay isn't helpful or necesssary.
