A nice place to work just makes it that much easier to get up in the morning, ready to do your best. Alex and Jack (our bosses) really make this a home: from the sweet coffee machine to our rooftop barbeques, open space, and casual vibe...it’s all good.
Welcome to Vancouver
After getting into Vancouver’s downtown core by bike or transit (or for a select few, by car) we like to start our mornings off right with a big cup of joe — courtesy of our state-of-the-art automated coffee maker. (Yes, we carry on about it, but it is pretty rad.) We then get settled into our spacious (and slick) workstations.
We work and learn together
Gossamer Threads is a cubicle-free zone. Given our open layout, we can freely collaborate and share ideas. As you can probably imagine, we value what each of our peers can bring to the table, and regularly bounce ideas off each other. By engaging in brainstorming and discussion we’re better equipped to reach the best possible solutions for our clients.
A truly supportive environment
There isn't much of a hierarchy at Gossamer Threads; we are part of an environment in which everyone feels comfortable and encouraged—with a shared collective vision that each and every employee is passionate about. We’re supported and encouraged to take on new challenges and do our best. This openness helps us continually improve our quality of service.
We work hard, and play hard
We also have a conference room for meetings with clients as well as in-house throw downs. Although our clients probably don’t realize it, the big ass projection screen allows for some intense after-hours Street Fighter tournaments.
So we like the work, and yes: we do like to play. We also feel it’s important to remain active in the tech community. Our developers are fixtures at community and industry events, such as Perl Mongers (a group that organizes Perl user groups and meetings). We also strongly encourage our staff to be responsible members of their communities by actively recycling, composting, and keeping sustainable principles in mind.
