Gossamer Threads is excited to announce that we’re now the hosting partner for the One Laptop Per Child project, a unique not-for-profit group dedicated to giving children in the developing world better access to education by designing and distributing unique, low-cost laptops. Folioplanet gives artists the opportunity to share portfolios of their work quickly and easily. Like many sites built around user accounts, Folioplanet offers its users a variety of account-specific options and upgrades, and wanted to add a coupon system to their site, which was developed around Gossamer Links.
The habit of commuting by bike is on the rise here in Gossamer Threads’ home city of Vancouver. The mayor, Gregor Roberts, has done some pretty amazing things in 2010 around the city for the safety and comfort of bike riders (including the mayor himself). The biggest of these has been the installation of two segregated bike routes on two of the main arteries that pour into the central nervous system that is Downtown Vancouver. With all of this new accessibility, cycling is much more popular in Vancouver than ever before and there are a lot of folks at GT jumping on the bandwagon!
Orthopaedia is a medical research site with a difference: it is built from the breadth of knowledge and expertise of its users – essentially a Wikipedia for orthopaedic medicine. Gossamer Threads was contacted by Orthopaedia after their previous developer had been unable to meet their needs. We quickly realised that there was a lot of work ahead of us.
Blue Sky Footage offers its users a virtual warehouse of a huge variety of high quality stock video footage: over 16 terabytes of it, to be precise. With that in mind, Blue Sky’s business model needs to be able to store and deliver large amounts of content swiftly and securely. We were able to heavily customize their site to streamline and simplify its operations.
