Helping DC Planet Deliver Environmental Education

Destination Conservation is an initiative of Elements Society, an environmental non-profit organization. The DC Planet website provides resources and and presentations to elementary classes across Alberta and British Columbia. Offering those services requires a well-tailored online repository, allowing members to upload and easily find resources: DC Planet turned to Gossamer Threads to develop a new site from the ground-up to help them achieve their goals.

A New Home…

Gossamer Threads migrated the CD Planet’s data into a customized installation of Gossamer Links, which is able to store a variety of files and listings in specifically tailored database columns: event listings, resources, pictures, and ongoing environmental campaigns. Members can also group these resources into preset curricula to offer custom lesson plans. An installation of Gossamer Forum also allows members to interact.

A New Look…

To go along with DC Planet’s new site infrastructure, an entirely new site design was also created by Gossamer Threads. Over several iterations, GT crafted a fun and unique design which sought to accentuate DC Planet’s mission, while ensuring that its users could find and manage resources quickly and efficiently. The welcoming yet professional design visually highlights student projects, and dovetails with DC Planet’s goal of make environmental advocacy fun and engaging.
