Halloween at Gossamer Town
November 3, 2007

Ian and his creation
While many probably consider a coding house starchy and lacking in spontaneity, nothing could be further from the truth here at Gossamer. However, when Halloween rolls around, there can definitely be a certain um…nerdy quality to the choice of costumes on display.
This year’s hit was Ian’s Bender costume – the creation of which consumed many hours and brain cells, and whose gestation undoubtedly occurred in an musty abandoned castle somewhere, complete with pitch-fork wielding townfolk outside.

Oh, to know the multitude of thoughts pinging through that brain
Aaron went with the minimalist approach, since as a bike-commuter; he needs to keep his load to a minimum. Thus, you’ll notice that in this picture of Aaron he looks completely normal, except for the kick-ass western-style belt he’s wearing.

The lone “Code-Wrangler” toils in intense concentration
Virginia, real-life karate black belt, didn’t stray too much from form in her ninja wear. She and the Code-wrangler later mixed it up when strong words were exchanged over the merits of Perl vs PHP.

Her swiftness in killing is only matched by her swiftness in coding

A rare never before seen picture of a Ninja vs a Cowboy
On Halloween +1, Ian was pleased to report back that as expected, Bender is indeed a chick magnet, and that his alter ego was the object of much female attention. Would that it were so without the 30 lb costume, eh Ian?!
