GT: A Partner For Life
Gossamer Threads has been donating blood as part of Canadian Blood Services’ “Partners For Life” program for some time now. That said, we’ve had a lot of people join the GT team since we first started organizing company blood donations, and some of the newcomers were perhaps a tad nervous about the prospect. With that in mind, we arranged for a presentation from Canadian Blood Services to be given at GT HQ.

GT gets the skinny on giving blood.
GTers unfamiliar with donating blood got the rundown on exactly how the process goes and what’s involved, as well as a look into how much of a difference blood donations make in the lives of other Canadians. Ten new GTers signed up to donate blood, and a few days later they were off to the blood bank!

The CBS branch in downtown Vancouver.
For repeat donors like Adrian, who’s given blood over twenty times, the process is a walk in the park.

Adrian’s all smiles.
Ian’s pretty psyched about giving blood, too…

Ian stays cool under pressure.
…But first-timers like Chakri were still curious as to how everything would work out.

Chakri preps for his first donation.
“Frankly, I wasn’t nervous before my first blood donation. I was definitely curious about how I’d feel, specifically how dizzy I’d be after donating. To my surprise, it went quite well and smoothly, and I felt normal afterwords. The screening questions were a tad lengthy, but I don’t blame them for wanting to make sure they check for everything. Overall, it was quite quick and easy!” – Chakri.
…We’re pretty sure the post-donation snacks helped soothe Chakri’s nerves, too.

A suitably Canadian reward for donating.
