Breaking News…The Ultimate Team’s First Victory!
It’s been two months, one week, and two days since the season started, but ‘It Was the Wind’ has at last procured their actual first win! Jack, however, insists on mentioning that the team has previously won two games (winning by default is still a win!), not to mention that glorious tie from a few weeks back. However, in accordance with the true spirit (and definition) of victory – this is the first!
Through those twenty games all ending in brutal defeats (Or, I should say, ‘non-wins’, sorry Jack!), the team has consistently improved their throwing, catching, and defensive skills. More importantly, excellent teamwork played a major part in this milestone. And so, at 18:48 Pacific Standard Time, on a wind-swept field in Vancouver, a long bomb from Jack took flight through the heavens and our Adrian made a brilliant diving catch in the end zone, sealing the win for the team.
Though they won’t admit to this, I have no doubt that hugs, mutual congratulations and tears of joy were greatly in evidence that day.
Reporting for work on Friday, Adrian proudly showed off the “grievous” injury he suffered après heroic dive, calling it his War Wound. He’s really been playing up the aches and pains since then; I suspect he hopes to use his weakened condition as an excuse for the schooling he’ll be receiving on the squash court tonight…
